At Gallery 110, Monika Dahlkin and I are exhibiting new encaustic (beeswax) works through the month of November. As the title implies, Pushing Wax is about pushing the use of wax to create an unexpected collection of art objects utilizing a medium both artists find challenging, fun and satisfying. It also implies that we seek to further engage the public with wax as an art form. The exhibit will include multiple approaches to making art using and expressing the use of wax, including sculptural, textured, assembled, pigmented and natural, painted-on, dipped...all exploring unusual uses of wax as an art form and concept. (One of the works I will be showing, Resonance, is posted as the first piece in my Beeswax section of this website.)
Please join us for an artists' reception of Pushing Wax during First Thursday Artwalk of Pioneer Square, 5:30-8 PM, November 7, or come by anytime the gallery is open (Wed-Sat, noon to 5 PM).
